Indian PM Narendra Modi on Forbes World’s Most Powerful People 2018 list

Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi has been ranked among Forbes World’s Most Powerful People 2018 list. He has been ranked number nine in the top 10 influential people of the world.

In his statement, Forbes said that Modi’s demonetisation(Notbandhi) decision was a major step towards ending corruption in the country. In the list of the world’s 75 most powerful people, China’s President Xi Jinping reached the No. 1 position for the first time, leaving Russian President Vladimir Putin behind. While Donald Trump had to be satisfied at the third place.

Modi has left behind many top people in the world to be ranked ninth. Among them are Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg (13th rank), British PM Terrez Mae (14th rank) PM Keqiang (15th rank) and Apple CEO Tim Cook (24th Rank). After Narendra Modi, in the Forbes list is businessman Mukesh Ambani as a second Indian.

Ambani is ranked 32nd, while Microsoft CEO of Indian origin Satya Nadella is at 40th position. Forbes said that Modi has remained extremely popular in the world’s second most populous country.

Modi was said to be emerging as a key figure in international efforts to tackle climate change. According to the magazine, in the last few years, India’s PM has emerged as a global leader by meeting President Obama and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
